Our Love Story
It started, like so many love stories these days, online on a dating app made just for queer women. Caitlin and Ciara started talking, and within a few weeks, they couldn’t wait any longer to meet in person.
Their first date was magic from the start, hours of conversation that flew by so fast neither of them wanted it to end. It probably would have gone on even longer if Caitlin hadn’t had to dash off to a hockey game! But that wasn’t an ending at all, it was just the beginning of a conversation the two of them have never stopped having since.
From that very first date, Caitlin and Ciara have been inseparable. Looking back, it was serendipitous, two people who were always meant to find each other, on one app, on one ordinary day that turned into the start of everything.
Along the way, their little family kept growing. There was Riley the dog, then Ziggy and Jasper the cats, and in the fall of last year, they welcomed a puppy named Theo, who completed the zoo.
Last Christmas, Caitlin gave Ciara the gift of a trip to Alberta; Calgary, Canmore, Banff, Lake Louise, Moraine Lake, and Jasper. Not long after, Caitlin and Ciara designed their rings together at a local jeweler in Wortley Village, the place they call home. The moment the ring was ready, Caitlin couldn’t wait another second. There was no big production, no grand surprise, just the two of them, at home, in the life they’d already built together. Caitlin got down on one knee right there, and asked Ciara to spend forever with her. Calm, certain, and overflowing with love, Ciara said yes.
By the time they set off for the Rockies, they were officially engaged, so they decided to capture the moment at Emerald Lake in Yoho National Park, BC. Surrounded by the mountains they’d already fallen in love with, their engagement photos turned out to be nothing short of incredible. They loved those mountains so much that they each got a small mountain tattoo to mark the trip, a permanent reminder of the place where it all came together.
Last July, they moved into their first home together, and it’s been theirs to grow into ever since. On September 8th, 2026, Caitlin and Ciara will elope, just the two of them. Then on September 12th, they’ll open up their backyard, the same one they’ve been lovingly transforming with this celebration in mind, to friends and family for a reception to celebrate their love.
Low-key is who they’ve always been, and there’s nowhere that feels more like them than their own backyard, surrounded by Riley and Theo, in the home where their next chapter is already taking root. Investing in that home, and in the family they’ve built within it, feels like exactly the right way to begin this new chapter together.
More than anything, Caitlin and Ciara can’t wait to have all their favorite people in one place, celebrating with them. Because at the end of the day, they’re not planning a wedding, they’re planning a marriage. And that’s the part they’re most excited for.
